Education and training:
As a child, he was a musical virtuoso.
Gradually, his focus turned to architecture.
Architecture degree received from Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City in the year 1970
1972: postgraduate degree in History and Theory of Architecture earned from School of Comparative Studies at Essex University of England.
Spent many years as a theorist and architecture professor.
The idea of his first design came in mind at the age of 52. (Felix Nussbaum Haus in Osnabrück, Germany)
1999: his design for the Jewish Museum in Berlin achieved international position.

Daniel Libeskind has worked under Richard Meyer and was also employed by Peter Eisenman – he didn’t stay there for long though.
In 1989, his career took off due to winning a competition of designing the Jewish Museum in Berlin.
His works have been realized and honored by the Universities of the U.S and Europe.

He has constructed various kinds of buildings which include designing private and public spaces, projects based on information technology, his distinct museums and his eye-catching urban designs.
He has been a great influence to the architects of the next generation and to the ones who are currently creating the upcoming future of the existing towns and cities.
Awards and Recognitions:
Hiroshima Art prize: first architect to receive this prize because his works promoted world peace.
Lifetime Achievement in architectural Community award: this award recognizes a person’s service in architectural community and the type of work he produced.
Interesting fact: Daniel Libeskind rebuilt the World trade Center after it was destroyed in 2001. His designs include a hanging garden, a memorial, a cultural center and a spiral tower that reaches a height of 1,776 feet. This makes it the tallest building in the world.
